Dataworks is a set of applications that help companies to improve their product design workflow with one of the most essential feature – the product data management (PDM). From the 3D design of parts and assemblies to drawings and special files for the CNC machines – all that need to be organized and there Dataworks comes.
Common PDM features like files management, BOM management, customizable part numbers information by families and attributes, automatic generation of compatible files (like PDF, DXF, etc.), centralized files storage, concurrent engineering and a lot more – they are all included in the standard version of the PDM.
The most powerful features are the custom ones – part number code generation using customer rules; data exchange with MRP and ERP systems or any feature the client needs to improve the working process.
Supported CAD systems via dedicated PDM add-in include SolidWorks, AutoCAD and ME10. In addition Microsoft Word and Excel add-ins are supported for improved documentation of the product. Compatibility files like PDF, DXF, Parasolid, eDrawings assemblies and others, are automatically generated during the save of CAD files to allow using them by suppliers, offices without the full CAD system installed or processed by CNC machines in production.
Dataworks gives a connection between the development activities of the product and those that support its construction.
The functionality of Dataworks revolves around the
management of project data (revisions, control of access, management of documentation) allowing the definition of flow for management of revisions, issue and process variations of product data, all this thanks to the greater definition and the better management of correlated files.
Dataworks is compatible with many versions and variants of operating system and CAD applications:
- 32 and 64bit Windows XP, 2003, Vista, 7, 8/8.1, 10
- SolidWorks 2009+ (*)
- AutoCAD 2000+ (*)
- Co-Create ME10 v9+ (*)
(*) CAD system versions may have own specific limitations for different versions of Windows, e.g. Windows XP is supported up to SolidWorks 2012.
Dataworks can be customized by adding new features for specific customer needs. Some examples we made for our current customers:
- Part number code generation with complex rules
- Custom BOM structures to fulfill client workflow
- Export to ERP or MRP system
- Import part number and BOM data from external systems
- Multiple file types generation during CAD file saving
- Custom change request/order management
And much more…
